- Orders containing Koeksisters will only ship Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
- All Koeksister orders include a $8 Cold envelope fee to prolong cooler temps during shipping.
- Even if your koeksisters arrive warm, don’t worry — this is completely normal. Once cooled, they will return to their original texture and form.
Upon delivery, please freeze overnight for koeksisters regain original texture and taste.

"This is basically the perfect Koeksister, Crispy on the outside syrup-y and moist in the inside. Perfection. Remember to chill well before serving. Syrup tends to drain out koeksisters and accumulate in the bottom of the package. Best is to invert the packet for an hour before you open it and the koeksisters will be perfect. . . ."

"Even better when you freeze them first and then thaw them out. First packet I just put in the refrigerator after receiving it. It was good but a bit dry. . . I had frozen the other packets and they were much better. Not dripping syrup but definitely more syrupy after being frozen first. Really good tasting!!!"

"The koeksisters have a great taste and excellent flavor, but they are not quite there yet. When refrigerated, ( not freezer) they seem to become dry on the inside and lose some of the soft, syrupy texture that is expected from a traditional koeksister. However, when left on the counter, they develop a texture that is much closer to an authentic koeksister, although they are no longer cold then. The flavor is very enjoyable, but finding the right balance between maintaining freshness and preserving the traditional texture would make them even better. As we all know, once the kettle is switched on, it's time to take the koeksister out of the freezer. By the time the coffee is ready, the koeksister should have reached the perfect temperature and texture to enjoy with your koffie. Your products are great and good luck and we look forward to support you shortly."

"Hello! I was so impressed with how Howdy handled my original order as I had incorrect address and forgot to apply the discount. Koeksisters tasted and looked so good but I found then to be dry (need extra syrup in back may fix but also risk making it soggy). It is a tough product to keep cold and ship. Still a taste of home and I'm so proud of you guys bringing American tastes of Africa!"

"I have had 2 orders (2doz+4doz). The taste is excellent. The texture. . . not so much. The basic problem is that they loose the outer "crispiness". This seems to be a problem here in USA as I often read about this online and experienced it myself when I've made them here. If you can solve this problem and replicate the SA Woolworths ones that retain the outer crispiness and "juicy" inside you will have a winner! Packaging is great though of the 6 packets I got most of one packet were dry inside. The rest were soft but juicy . I put them in the freezer as soon as they arrive. The note you attached with the order is a good idea especially for those who don't know what a koeksister is. Thank you for the opportunity to review. If they had retained the crispiness I would have given them 5 stars!"

"My first review mentioned dryness, like some others have mentioned. Even with that, the taste was delicious. I did try an second order though, and they were perfection! I recognize that this is a newer product for howdysnax and part of the process is finding exactly what works and what doesn’t. They’re definitely on the right track though!"
